Gossip in the Garden Block a Month
Shawn's first ever Block of the Month (BOM) program may look different than any other BOM program you've seen or done. The BOM will meet once a month, on the fourth Tuesday of the month, for instruction, inspiration, and sewing time. Tilda fabrics will be used for this BOM, including the 2025 Tilda collections Sunday Brunch and Wallflower. Each month you will receive fabric to completer your blocks. Gossip in the Garden requires several techniques to complete.
During the monthly sewing sessions, you will be taught:
- basic hand embroidery,
- hand piecing,
- hand applique
- English paper piecing, and
- machine piecing
The cost of the BOM program is $25 per month, which includes fabric for the quilt top and binding. SIGNING UP FOR THE BOM IS A COMMITTMENT TO THE ENTIRE PROGRAM, FROM FEBRUARY 2025 THROUGH DECEMBER 2025. This allow Shawn's to offer this quilt at a reasonable monthly fee.
Class fee does not include the pattern or the following supplies. You will receive a 20% discount on class supplies purchased at Shawn's.

- sandpaper board
- water soluble marking pen
- sheer weight fusible Pellon 906F
- Karen K Buckley Perfect Circles
- Karen K Buckley Bigger Perfect Circles
- Cut-Rite Heavy Duty Freezer Paper
- Hand embroidery needle
- hoop for hand embroidery (3" or 4" preferred)
- Milliners #10 needles (Tulip recommended)
- Applique #10 needles (Tulip recommended) optional
- Jen Kingwell seam wheel and/or Creative Grids 1/4" ruler
- Needle threader (Bohin recommended) optional
- Aurifil thread 50 weight, color 2311 or 2375 plus other colors for applique
- 1/4" bias tape maker
- Sewline glue pen plus glue refills
- Roxanne Glue-Baste-It
- Magic spray
- Stiletto (by Annie or other)
- English paper pieces
- 75 each 1-1/4" hexies
- 6 each 2" 6 point diamonds
- 8 each 1-3/4" chubby dresden
- 64 each 4" rounded dresden
- Wonder Clips or Sew-Tites
- Scissors for cutting fabric
- Scissors for cutting plastic and paper
- Sewing machine in good working order, including power cord and foot control
- Basic sewing supplies including seam ripper, pins, etc.
- Rotary cutter with rulers (cutting mats are available in class)
- Light box/pad
- Sharpie ultra fine permanent marker
Not all supplies will be needed for every class. A supply list for the first class will be provided.
Please feel free to bring a sack lunch or snack to the all day class.
