Love Your Serger

Learn to Use Your Serger Series
Instructor: Lorena & Phyllis
Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Cost: $20 per session
Has your serger been sitting in the closet? Did you recently purchase a new-to-you serger and aren't quite sure where to start? This three-part series is designed to help you gain confidence and learn the basic functions of this versatile machine.
Session 1 – July 10
Learn how to thread your serger for a 3-thread overlock stitch and adjust tension settings. These essential skills are the foundation for successful serging.
Session 2 – July 31
Master the 4-thread safety overlock stitch and learn simple techniques for removing serger stitches when mistakes happen.
Session 3 – August 14
Explore chain stitch and cover stitch functions (available on compatible machines).
Important: Sessions 2 and 3 build upon the skills taught in Session 1. If you are new to serging or are not comfortable threading and adjusting tension, we strongly recommend taking Session 1 before attending the later sessions.
Please bring your serger, manual, power cord, and the correct needles for your machine. Machines must be in good working order. Thread and practice fabrics will be provided.
Registration for this class is by phone or in person only. Before registering, we need to discuss the make and model of your serger to ensure the class is a good fit for your machine and that you will be able to participate fully in the techniques being taught.
Class size is limited to ensure personalized instruction and plenty of hands-on help. To register, please call the shop at (417) 885-1242 or stop by Shawn's Sewing Center.
